GIVING: THE DOOR TO GOD’S SUPERNATURAL PROVISION

GIVING: THE DOOR TO GOD’S SUPERNATURAL PROVISION
Giving can feel impossible when you’re facing your struggles. Many people have moments when it feels like they barely have enough for themselves, let alone enough to give. But the story of the widow and Elijah in 1 Kings 17 shows us that even in our toughest moments, giving opens the door to God’s supernatural provision. Imagine this widow’s pain—she had reached her breaking point. She had just enough flour and oil to make one last meal for herself and her son before they starved to death. Then, a stranger, the prophet Elijah, asked her for bread and to make it for him first. She could have easily said no, choosing to cling to the little she had left. But Elijah prophesied to her: “Do not be afraid, the flour and oil will not run out.” In an extraordinary act of faith, this widow gave the very last of her resources. And God, true to His word, performed a miracle just as the prophet Elijah prophesied. Her small jar of flour and a little jug of oil never ran dry, providing for her and her family for many days to come. What seemed like the end became a testimony of God’s faithfulness through her willingness to give, even amid her want. This story touches so deeply because some of us have been there—when holding on feels like the safer option when fear tells us we don’t have enough. Yet God calls us to trust Him, even in those moments. When we give, especially when it’s difficult, we’re saying, “God, I trust You to provide.” The widow’s sacrifice teaches us that giving is not about what we have, but about our faith. When we trust God with what’s in our hands, He multiplies it. He turns our small, heartfelt offerings into more than enough. (Isaiah 60:20). So even when it feels like you have nothing left to give, trust that God will meet your needs and bless you beyond measure. Give with faith, and watch as God turns your sacrifice into a miracle.
